Pennsylvania State Police were recently called to the scene of an accident at the Tompkins Campground located at Cowanesque Lake. The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. and involved a 77-year-old woman and a camper trailer. The trailer ran over the elderly woman and resulted in her death. The camper trailer was being hauled by a couple, and while they were working on the breaks at the rear of their truck, the breaks dislodged and subsequently caused the trailer to move forward.
]]> Police stated that the trailer traveled towards the woman and she was not able to get out of the way. She was then struck by the trailer, ran over and killed. The accident occurred shortly after the driver of a Chevy sedan struck a deer in the right hand lane of the Interstate. The vehicle remained disabled in the lane following the collision with the deer when a tractor-trailer in the right hand lane struck the rear of the disabled vehicle. This caused the Chevy to spin around and travel off of the road and into an embankment.

At around 8 a.m., a rural bus carrying senior citizens and people with developmental disabilities entered a train crossing and appeared to have stopped on the train tracks.
